Living away from Michigan
From being a resident assistant I know that there is about a month or so "honeymoon" period when you move in somewhere. This is a time when everything seems fabulous, wonderful, new, fun, and definitely the opposite of scary. Everything is exciting and because it is new it is always a new adventure...including driving to the grocery store. This is what I experienced when I came here every other weekend for the past 9 months...and still a little bit now..but way less than two weeks ago.
Everything is still new but it is less sparkly, if you will. I still only know how to get to about five different places and those include, Walmart, tanning, Schnuck's (grocery store), Lowe's, and the Dollar Tree. I am capable of going other places, but only with the assistance of Garmina (my GPS). The good thing is, is that these are all essential places to go to in my life! AND if I really wanted to go anywhere else, as I said, I would be completely capable of it!
NOW, knowing how to get to the essentials (like tanning, groceries..etc) is the most important thing and after the excitement and sparkly effect of living in a new place wears off, you definitely begin to think about everything you left behind. Today was my really first day of REAL realization. Although I have had a few internal breakdowns or "oh mans I want to go skiing" or "WHERE IS THIS PLACE...AHHHHH" today was the day that I really just wanted to go to the mitten. My best friend had surgery to remove her thyroid and lymph-nodes and other tumors...all which are cancerous. This is the one time I should have been there, sitting with everyone waiting for the surgery to be over and to be in the recovery room hanging out. Obviously it is very difficult to travel 800 miles at the drop of a hat, and my only
I love where we live, I love our home and I love being where Bryan is...but sometimes I really miss real snow and skiing and people who can drive in inclement weather.

Suburbia Living
Never in a million years did I ever, EVER imagine myself living in a suburb. I grew up with a large yard, a house that did not look like anyone else's on the road and certainly (until a long time after living there) did not have close neighbors (they were quite a ways away for being "close"..country close)
After moving from my comfortable country home...I lived in the Residence Halls (dorms). This is like an apartment but louder, younger and with people who constantly monitor you (I was one of the RA's...I know how it works...). After 5 years in the "Res-Res" I moved on to an apartment. I of course did not have the finances to live in a luxury apartment...I lived in the worse part of Midland, MI and had neighbors all around that smoked pot, partied and were for sure not the wealthy student that attend Northwood University or the plush employees that Dow provides housing for! I did not hate this experience...but I certainly did not like my apartment smelling like I just got done smoking a joint...when that is 1. not my style and 2. gross (especially the smell). After the apartment experience I was rescued by "My Knight in Shining Armor" who's employer provided housing which was a very elegant and plush condo in downtown Bay City on the river. We lived walking distance from several awesome bars and were just across the river from our other favorite bars. Downtown was always busy which was both a pro and con as having the condo parking also be public parking and living around, apparently, brainless people.

NOW...I live in a house (pictured above). A nice 1950's brick house, in a neighborhood, on a street that has other houses that are very similar. The house is awesome. It is big upstairs and even larger with our awesome finished (well work in progress totally finished) basement. I have no issues with the house. It is a project that we can do together and that, so far, we are totally enjoying and having fun with! The thing that is taking some getting used to living in a suburb with: noisy kids, nosey neighbors, barking dogs, creepy morning walkers and I am sure rules. Now, I love being around people...I love being close to our Missouri friends...I mean we can walk or bike to everyone's house...well 3 houses!
I will explain what I do not like item by item:
1. Noisy Kids. I totally understand that kids need to run about and play and have fun. HOWEVER...do they seriously need to yell and play after like 8pm....especially on school/work nights!!!!!????!!!! I think that I just need to get used to it...it is just a unique experience when you've 1. never experienced this and 2. used to be the person who told people they were too loud and out of control! I want to go RA all these rowdy kids...however...it's they're parents job! LOL
2. Nosey Neighbors. Seeing people peering in your backyard and always staring through windows when you go to your car, put trash out. or are just outside in general is strange to me. I really do not care what my neighbors are doing...do I like to look out the window and see what people are doing...heck. yes. Do I go out of my way to constantly see what the neighbors or doing...NOOOOOOOOOO...only if I am sitting and the curtains are open. I do need to get used to the peering neighbors because that for sure will never, ever change. People are nosey, especially elderly people (like one of our neighbors)...but c'mon and be less obvious!!!!
3. Barking Dogs. Now, I really want a dog...I do realize that it will occasionally bark...HOWEVER...I will NEVER leave a dog outside to bark and bark and bark and bark and bark until my dog loving neighbor wants to go to Walmart and purchase an airsoft gun to stun the stupid dog to shut it up! I mean would I actually shoot a dog with an airsoft gun..NO...because really it should be the owner for leaving their dog outside to be miserable and to make the affected neighbors miserable. Do these dog owners every think "hey my dog is barking because it wants my attention"..or "oh, maybe something is wrong" OR "oh, hey, Fido wants in because it is done being outside!" People should be better to their dogs...or at least care about the ear's of their neighbors!
4. Creepy Walkers. I think that above I labeled this Creepy Morning Walkers. There are quite a few people who walk every morning...which is good...I am glad to see people out working it! I hate that the people obviously slow down and peer in windows. Do I like to window look...YES...do I slow down and creep and stare at the person sitting on the couch NO. NO joke...last week three days an older woman would slow down at the beginning of our yard and just intensely stare in our windows, cocking her head, mouth unhinged. One day I waved at her (I really wanted to flip her off because I was so annoyed) and she quickly put her head down and started walking extremely, extremely fast...it. was. hilarious!
5. Rules. Now, I already know that there are certain rules about our trash and recycle cans. They cannot be an eyesore on your property and must be in minimal view of your neighbor's sight...also they must be taken from the curb within 24 hours of trash day. Okay...do I get this..yes...do I feel that it is quite obvious and that this should already be done without instruction..YES. I have yet to learn of any other rules...but I am sure that there is some..hopefully a noise curfew or even a kid curfew (they have those in MI)
I think that suburbia living is for me...but that there is some getting used to. I love being so close to city living. I love love love having like 8 malls to choose from. Do I like to shop and shop and shop no..but I do enjoy having the option to shop until I drop. We live in a good neighborhood in a nice, historical city. We only live about 20 minutes from St. Louis and there is always, always, always something to do!
Moving is over...now I just have to adjust to the move...it could take awhile!

Moving...
Christmas was fabulous, as usual. I got everything, I wanted, PLUS...so it was great. A few large items, a Kindle Fire, a Vera Bradley Hipster, Toms, a Vera Bradley Mini Hipster, some awesome pictures for hanging in our house, a waffle maker, clothes, jewelery and so, so much more...those are just the BIG things!
The day AFTER Christmas we moved on from Michigan. The trip started out fantastic. We ate lunch in a very timely manner at our favorite place in downtown Indianapolis (The Rathskeller) and then put the GPS's on for 7 Blackberry. According to both GPS units we were suppose to pull into our driveway sometime after 6PM...spoiler alert...THIS DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO HAPPENING. NO, it was not a bad calculation by 2 Garmins...it was rather a series of horrible events. 1. We moved 0 inches in traffic for essentially 2 hours. We later came to find out...when being turned around in a median that all of this was as a result of a horrible accident of a tanker truck that created a massive hazardous chemical spill...so God and the Emergency staff only know what those of us within three quarters of a mile have been exposed to! 2. Once we headed in the opposite direction we needed to go we found the route we needed to take to get back on our way to our home. This was more painful than waiting in the actual accident traffic. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make a backwoods winding road the connector to a five lane road with no left turn light the detour to 70 west was DUMB..and clearly did not graduate from a school known for its College of creating roads. Anyone who knows anything knows that sitting in traffic for hours upon hours is the WORSE! Our trip started out great and then just got worse and worse...to top it off the last hour of the drive was in rain which was also starting to become slush...so that was even better and then 4 since rain is 3 was once we finally got in the house and got the necessities to live for the night we ordered pizza which took over 75 minutes to reach our house...we watched with our own eyes the delivery car pass the house like 5 times...clearly they had too many "smoke" breaks on this Monday night!
I guess the good part is, is that we made it home in one piece with the remainder of our stuff...the cars are still in once piece and besides a few scrapes and cuts to ourselves the move was very successful and no one was injured! (you always here horror stories of cross country/cross state moves...we are NOT a statistic!)
In the past two weeks that we have made it to Missouri a lot has been accomplished.
1. We organized the basement...there are still beer signs and other artifacts that belong on walls sitting on the floor and on the bar and on the table...but they have been cleaned and organized and are ready for their home! The end where we have furniture and a TV now looks like a living room and is ready to get an area run have our 3 game counsels hooked up and is so cute! Bryan swept, vacuumed and sanitized the floors with pinsol...it looks so clean! We still have to clean the bar side floor...but it is 80% complete! Now we just need to clean the rest of the floors, organize the bar, paint the walls and hang up all of the beer treasures! It is going to look fantastic! I cannot wait to have my Birthday Party down there in May!
2. The furniture in the living room has been kind of reorganized...there is only ONE way that we can successfully move the furniture. We have ix-nayed the coffee table and decided to just have our nice big foot stool floating about. We just eat off from tray tables...which suit us just fine! We now just have our coffee table from the condo as a plant table that also serves as an end table for both our oversized chair and couch!
WOW this makes me sound like such a nerd...
To make a long list short...we have organized to better use our space and cleaned to make it even prettier! There is still so much more to do...but we are having a great time doing little projects here and there...it is fun to see the small projects make a huge difference!
Moving was overall a good experience. It was very stressful...I will not lie...it was one of the top five most stressful experiences I have ever participated in. I do think all of the stress...work..and anticipation/build up was well worth it. I love our house. I love St. Charles and obviously I still love Bryan.

2...1...0..days!!
Monday, day 2, I pretty much caught up on shows and did laundry...again. (I already need to do it again today....) I honestly DO NOT understand how we go through so much laundry...I spend so much time sorting it (this washer does not have hot or cold settings), washing it, drying it, folding it, putting it away...then doing it all again because...well there's always A TON TO DO!
Tuesday, day 1, I got the oil changed on my car like 2,000 (at least) miles early. I personally DO NOT want to spend time within the first 1.5 months trying to figure out where to get my oil changed in between finding a job, settling the house and trying to find my way just to Walmart.... the guy was quite weirded out that I wanted to change my oil so early, but when it is 1. free and 2. necessary to stay sane when I move I really did not care and just tried to explain it to him...however not all people are great minds like myself...haha. ;)
I finally got accepted into Pinterest. I really did not understand what it was..I still kind of do not understand...but it is fun to make Pins and to look at things I could have done for Christmas...too late now because so many things have been purchased! NEXT YEAR, Valentines day, STP Day...Birthdays...it will be a fabulous resource!
I am being tortured by the wrapped presents for me next to the ones that I have wrapped for Bryan! I really, really, really want to open them!!! I cannot wait! I hope that the presents that I got for Bryan are up to Par! I. AM. EXCITED. We still do not know if we're opening here or at home...but Bryan has to decide!
I am pretty excited to move and to get going...I am just ready for a change of scenery and life. The only thing that makes me un-nerved is that everything will not fit between the two cars! I am not good with spatial thinking, especially when it is so many different shapes and, well we have nothing packed...also there is two coffee tables....ahhh!
I am pretty ready to move and come back to ski and to visit.

4...3..Days!!!
5 days until Christmas!!!
Saturday was family Christmas number one...in Greenville, MI where I am from. It was nice and Bryan's second holiday with my Mom's sister and Mom's Mom (she couldn't attend). There's always good food and lots of people in a small, crammed space...and it is hott, hott, hott because even in the 80 degree small apartment my Grandma still had on a long sleeved shirt and a sweater and was still "chilly"...I was sweating.
I have been sucking at updating but 1. I have not felt good 2. I have been tired and 3. If I do not do it early enough it frustrates Bryan when I am on the computer when we're watching TV. I need to use all of the real, high speed internet I can since we are not having real internet at our house...I would personally rather have internet than cable...but Bryan disagrees.
OMG. HGTV in the morning is weird...I don't want to know how to make a painted flower lampshade by hand OR a clay basket to hold fake eggs...I do not want that crap in my house!
Anyways. Today, Day 3 was so fun. We have to take advantage of every free day that we have because we no Michigan days left to frolic and play. We really like TC (Traverse City) and really like their wine and beers AND North Peak, a local Brewpub and restaurant that has AMAZING drinks and food. We walked around downtown which is really nice and has some cool shops and is fun to look around. The M22 store (M22 is the road that almost every Grand Traverse Winery is on or off from) had THE BEST SHIRTS EVER. It is a line called Love Michigan and of course I want a tshirt and a hoodie. The XL women's shirt which were the colors I wanted was about the size of a shirt my sister who wears a size small...so that made me feel sad and a little fat...even though it was simply because the shirt is ridiculously small LOL. (here's the website: http://www.lovemichigan.com/?wpsc-product=love-ladies-fitted-tee-deep-heather-grey) I am currently also emailing the website so that I can get one in an appropriate size! We bought a Michigan cookie cutter, and some Cherry Malt Balls. We had a great time walking around and enjoying the nice day (it was almost 40 out!)
We love the Shops at the Village (mostly the ones where you can spend $5 to taste 6 wines. So we of course went to Left Foot Charlies which is awesome. This is just a tasting room but the whole complex is an old State Hospital that has been rescued and re-purposed. We bought the greatest growler EVER and also got some loose wine to drink this week and also found a Christmas Present for Bryan's Brother. Why would anyone not go to this place it is AWESOME! We found a beverage for our New Year's in a new place and the lady was even kind enough to let us have some tastes! It was great. I am going to miss our Sunday Drives to TC!
Mostly the point in this trip was to eat our North Peak which is amazing and one of our absloute favorite places in Michigan and anywhere to go! They have egg roll wrapped mozzarella sticks that are to do for when you dip them in the pesto ranch...om nom nom. WE have never had bad food here...it's always AWESOME! We love the drinks and the food and the place!
It was a fabulous day and we had so much fun!
I am so tired that I can only relive what we did today...I'm tired and have some wicked acid reflux going on...
I am getting excited to have Christmas, have the condo clean and ot just be done...the condo needs to be cleaned before christmas...but still...I just want to be done and be moved and just come back!

6, 5 Days...
Yesterday (day 6) I was supposed to work my usual three hours per week...one of the brilliant girls that is my fellow employee did not know she worked...so I was the only person available to work since our "boss/manager" is a shut-in, drunk, idiot. (there is way more...but I want to keep my calmness I have created for the next two weekends which includes moving...) I essentially was never asked to work and I am sure Friday when I go to pick up my money (he owes me for two weeks and I intend on quitting so he'll owe me for three) he will have something b**** about...and I will listen and then probably turn into vapid, mean sorority girl and make him feel less than an inch tall...of course I am usually too nice to do this...so it is more of just a wish than anything!
I am getting pretty worried that I am going to be sick for the Holidays...I have that little pain in my throat on the right side...I try to poke out the infection (these rubbery white pieces that come out when I sneeze and smell like the shallows of Bass Lake in August...*gag*)BUT when these nasty little white tonsiliths...I wish I could poke them out without puking my brains out! THAT IS ALL I NEED! To be sick for Christmas's, moving and trying to start a new life...but probably internal stress, ridiculous weather changes and not sleeping well are all contributing to my general feeling of illness...
Every year I never understand what the Holidays do to people and their level of courtesy. It is almost like Bryan and I wear invisibility cloaks when we go out and about...people rudely bump into us and sometimes seem to not notice that we are taking up the space that we are...it is just crazy to me how people are so, so, so, so RUDE! The holidays are supposed to be a time of giving and happiness OH and being nice to your fellow man! SO, I am just waiting to move and be able to hole up in the house and avoid people...I have never liked people that much (the general public) and unfortunately it is even worse when people are in their holiday haze.
Presents are pretty much bought (except one person) and wrapped....they are organized into piles either on the table or on the floor according to what house they must travel to...it is going to be interesting to see if I get everything where it is supposed to go...
We sent home four boxes of clothes that a few other things mixed in...we're pretty worried we are not going to have enough room to pack everything...but we're going to have to because there's no getting it to mom's house once we have come back from Christmas up North. We have like three outfits meaning I have to do laundry everyday to make sure there are shirts and pants for everyone to wear...socks in my case because I was dumb and accidentally only left like 3 or 4 pairs! So that is fun....
Also with moving from a rental means CLEANING. I feel like I JUST did this in the apartment. Luckily we keep the condo quite clean and we just deep deep cleaned it for a showing our landlord had about a month ago. Working less than any other employed person in the world affords me the time to clean, clean and clean and to cook and do laundry. SO hopefully next week I can get everything we do not need to the garage (that we just got emptied) and get it one step closer to being moved to Missouri. Looking back there are somethings we should have taken on the uhaul...but it was thought to be needed and we cannot change it now!
It is hard because we are going up to My Mom's house up North on Christmas Eve and Leaving there Christmas Day in the afternoon...packing up the Jeep because the Mazda will already be packed and then eating a frozen/leftover dinner...re-cleaning anything in the kitchen...re-cleaning our bathroom upstairs and sleeping then waking up...checking out with our crazy landlord and then driving. I still need to plan our driving trip because there is not frikin' way that I am going to go straight there without doing a couple fun things because it is the holidays and as of now I have no idea where we need to be when...but I can only assume the 27th we will be back in the car driving to see family.
I am just ready to be wherever we are going to be. And I want to figure out who's going to be where and what is going to happen. I also have still been looking for a small dog for protection when Bryan is gone and I am home alone...it will look precious and cute and then it will bite the crap out of people!!!
I am not nervous I am just ready to be done like I said above. I just want to leave and get it done quick like pulling off a band aid because it is very hard for me to leave Michigan because it is way, way, way, way better than Missouri. lol

7 Days!
About 2 weeks ago I started a new bank account. I was told 5-8 business days I would receive my debit/visa card...it has been 12 Days since the first and that includes 4 weekend days...so 8 Business days. Yesterday I called PNC to ask them perhaps if they sent it to my Missouri address..NOPE...sent to the Bay City address. They told me that I can wait or I CAN PAY $10 TO GET A NEW ONE...um sorry...I have never had possession of the card...so I am NOT going to pay you MORE money to get the card I have been patiently waiting for...because I have less than 2 weeks to be moved and no longer at the address. They tried to tell me that the holidays make mail go slow...however Last Wednesday I sent out Holiday cards and people got them Friday...and I dropped them off at the last drop off time at the post office...so I find it very, very, extremely hard to believe Santa Mail has slowed the delivery of my precious card! I. NEED. MY. CARD! aaaah!
I wrapped presents today...some for Bryan some for my family some for his family...it gets hard to remember what is what...but I have very organized piles and even label what is a stocking...so hopefully it works out! It is also hard to imagine taking these presents in our car when we already have very little room for our own stuff!
I think I am beginning to believe in global warming. We are in Michigan...it has been at least 40 degrees out the past 3 days and there is absolutely NO fresh or accumulated snow in like 2 weeks...I am just going to go ahead and assume that the weather is going to just open up when we are getting ready to move...so packing the cars...driving 500 miles...and trying to just get home...the snow is going to punish us and I will never get to enjoy it :,(
#BeyondScaredStraight is on (from our DVR) and it is so intense and I just cannot concentrate!
7 Days and I am just ready to be done here...in reality it is a few more but in 7 days Bryan and I will be able to chill all day and get ready to leave MI and have some time to spend together before mayhem begins!
